A ‘How-To’ on Becoming a Travel Writer

I was invited last week for a Media-Meet at Christ University, Bangalore, to conduct a workshop on travel writing for undergraduate and post-graduate students from across Bangalore.

It appears that there are a lot of folks who want to be travel writers. The workshop had to be delayed by twenty minutes, as the turnout was far higher than expected and it took some time to accommodate all the attendees. Here is what I presented at the workshop.

Best Travel Writing..

The results of annual Solas Best Travel Writing Awards, one of the best known annual travel writing competition on the web, were announced a month ago. I had bookmarked them for later reading but it had skipped my mind as I got busy with many things in the last month.

The entries picked up after judging are available for reading on their website and will also be published into a book revised every year. I am still not done with reading all the winners from the past – the quality of writing out there is excellent, and I would not want to miss any of them.

Head here to read the winning stories.
