Great write up , bookmarked it. One thing about the HPTDC buses : the night stay is in Keylong , not Sarchu. Keylong is four hundred meters lower than Leh , just under 3100, and Sarchu is more than seven hundred meters higher than Leh (4253) . It makes a lot of difference in how well you cope with the first night after Manali.

Can you provide more info on the how and where to rent a heavy bike for riding from manali to leh.. we are a bunch of friends coming from Bangalore to Delhi. Thanks.

Siddharth, I do not know any provider names, but I have seen 2-3 shops in Vasisht Village (just outside Manali) having enfields for rent. You could just go there and ask around.
