i read your blog on the hebbal lake in metblog. comments at that site are closed so I'm resorting to this! :-)
There is an initiative to save Siddapura lake near Sarjapur road. I'm not a blogger - but i would appreciate it if you would post some info on this on the site. this is an initiative by a school - and we can do with all the help we can get.
below are some details of this initiative. in case this is not a trip you want to make, any suggestions on who to contact would be appreciated!
The Siddapura Lake, behind Prakriya School, off Sarjapur road has been taken up as a live project by the school; “Our Lake” as the children refer to it is located behind our campus. This lake is facing the same fate as most of the other lakes in Bangalore. Developmental pressures, neglect, illegal sand and clay mining have all contributed to the slow, steady and silent destruction of this once charming, self sustaining, dynamic and healthy eco-system.
Just a few years back, this lake was a favourite nature walk destination of our children. Now the government is in the process of converting all agricultural land in the village into residential area in “K.C.Reddy Layout”. We feel the lake and surrounding land needs to be protected to provide lung space to the area. Preserving and protecting this lake, we feel, is our responsibility/ duty.
